This paper compares and contrasts the characters in Babbitt by Sinclair Lewis and Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. The protagonists contrasted in this paper are George Babbitt, a typical businessman who has grandiose goals and aims to become a success as quickly as possible and George Milton, a small, intelligent man. These characters successfully portray the writers cynicism toward the American dream and how most people fail to achieve it because they are trying for the wrong things.
